John H. Furman, 81, of 521 W. Howard St., Frackville, passed away Friday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Strausstown, April 5, 1931, he was a son of the late Milton Furman and Marguerite Stephens Furman Oakum.

He was a 1949 graduate of Frackville High School.

John served in the Navy in the Korean War.

He was an auto mechanic at the former Bob Miller Chevrolet, Pottsville, and was a parts delivery person for many years for Thomas Auto Parts, Frackville.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville.

John was preceded in death by a brother, David Furman; and two sisters, Anna Mae Woodford and Harriet Beddow. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Surviving are his companion and caregiver, Elaine Oley, Frackville; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The Rev. Oliver Brown will officiate.
