Donald "Donuts" "Crusher" Lucas, 66, of 308 Plane St., Gordon, passed away late Tuesday evening at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.
Born Feb. 26, 1947, he was a son of the late Ruth Lucas Zeller.
He was a graduate of the former Ashland High School, Class of 1964.
Donald worked for Penn Line Corp. as a tree trimmer and later for the former Ashland State General Hospital and the Ashland Regional Medical Center, Fountain Springs, in the maintenance department until his retirement.
He was a former mayor of Gordon and was of the Protestant faith.
Donald was a member of the Ashland Lodge No. 294 F&AM, Gordon Fire Company, Lavelle Fire Company, Ashland Elks Lodge No. 384, Little Pine Lodge, Valley Hunting Camp, Good Fellowship Club and Ashland and Notre Dame Club of Schuylkill County.
Preceeding him in death were two brothers, Robert Lucas, May 2012, and Williard Hubler, April 2013; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Matejick, February 2013.
Surviving are a sister, Carrie Matejick, Gordon, sisters-in-law, Linda Hubler, Ashland, and Bridget Lucas, Heckscherville; uncle, Charles Lucas and his wife, Judy, Mowry; nieces, Sherri, wife of Charles Hutnick, Ashland, Vikki, wife of David Boyer, Ashland, Emily Lucas, Hegins, and Sara Lucas, Heckscherville; nephews, Ricky Matejick, Gordon, Robert Matejick, Duncott, Mark Hubler, Ashland, and Kyle Lucas, Lititz; and a cousin, William Lucas, Gordon.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be the Rev. John C. Wallace, pastor of Simpson United Methodist Church, Gordon. Interment will follow in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle. The viewing will be held at 9 a.m. until the service at the funeral home. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
