Emily Mae Foreman, major in the Salvation Army, 80, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Pottsville, was promoted to glory Tuesday.
Born in Shamokin, Sept. 10, 1933, she was the youngest of four children of William R. and Verna Mae Daub Coles.
A lifelong member of the Salvation Army, Major Foreman served as a minister throughout Pennsylvania, New York and the Kansas City area. She commanded the local Pottsville Corps with her husband from 1968 to 1973.
Along with her parents, Major Foreman was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Major Ronald R. Foreman, Sr.; and brother, Col. Robert N. Coles.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Majors Ron and Dorine Foreman, Martha and Bill Hubler, Bill and Cindy Foreman, John and Kristi Foreman, and Ruth Loret; brothers and sister-in-law, Major Charles and Charlotte Coles, and Dr. William Coles; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, as well as a great-grandson due in April 2014.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Salvation Army, 400 Sanderson St., Pottsville. Funeral services celebrating Major Foreman's ministry and life at will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army, with Lt. Col. Mark W. Tillsley officiating. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Emily's name be sent to the Salvation Army, 400 Sanderson St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
