John Pastorella, 77, former Sheppton native and longtime Las Vegas resident, passed away Friday, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with stage four cancer.

John was a retired builder who last worked with his son, Giovanni, providing custom built homes in southern Nevada. John will be best remembered in this area for his prior businesses, Artcraft Building and Remodeling and Artcraft Apartments.

John loved to spend time with his family and friends. He also loved to travel and made many new friends wherever he went on his many adventures. He was an animal lover and spent many hours with his dogs, Winchester and Allie. He was a fixture at Dean's Place, his family's tavern and restaurant in Las Vegas, where he liked to meet and greet and chat with the customers.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Lucy Pastorella, Sheppton.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle, and son-in-law, Kevin Moyer; son, Giovanni, and daughter-in-law, Svetlana Pastorella; granddaughter, Anastasia Lucia Pastorella; brother, Vince, and sister-in-law, Anna Pastorella; sister, Rose Sivar; sister, Amy, and brother-in-law, Tony LaRose; nieces and nephews.

A memorial for John will be held at the convenience of the family at a future date. Donations in John's memory may be made to the or to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901, a no-kill animal shelter.
