Carolyn Ruth Rinker Obituary
Carolyn Ruth Rinker, of Smyrna, passed away at her home on Saturday December 9, 2017. She was 87.

She was born in Gormania, WV on December 8, 1930, the daughter of the late Minnie Beatrice and Harry Baker Bobo. She was a 1949 graduate of Bayard High School, Bayard, WV.

She owned and operated Carolyn's Day Care for 36 years. Even though she lived in Smyrna since 1959, her "home" will always be Mt. Storm, WV.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and many friends. She also enjoyed seeing the first snow of the year, the colorful fall colors, a beautiful sky, Facebook, scrapbooking, gardening quilting, and playing piano.

She was a member of the Smyrna Church of Christ.

Carolyn had a great sense of humor, enjoyed a good laugh and making others smile. She made friends everywhere she went. A story she wrote was published in a book entitled "Monday Washdays and Outhouse Roosters".

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by Nelson Rinker, her classmate and high school sweetheart to whom she was married for 46 years; five sisters, Norma Christine (infant), Frances Sirbaugh, Lillian Winters, Elinor Field, and Winona Patterson; a brother, Harry Wilson Bobo; and her companion for many years, Pete Bonner.

She is survived by her children, John Martin Rinker and his wife Colleen, of Lewes, DE, and Debra Dianne Nadel and husband Gerald of Smyrna, DE; grandchildren Jeffrey Rinker and his wife Christina, Jonni Rinker Wolskee, John Wesley Doyle and his wife Elsa, and Lillian Joy Doyle; great-grandchildren Sunni and Peter Wolskee; a brother, Wendell Lee Bobo and his fiancée Norma Lee Smith; many loving nephews and nieces, cousins and a myriad of friends; and her crazy cat whom she loved dearly, Dottie.

The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during a very difficult time. Thank you to the many friends who called and visited Carolyn and for the outpouring of love expressed by so many on Facebook.

Services will be Wednesday, December 13 at 12 p.m., at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11 a.m. A service will also be held at Smith Funeral Home in Keyser, WV. Interment will be at the Alkire Cemetery in Mt. Storm, WV.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna, DE.
