James Hoeschen Obituary

James (Jim) Hoeschen, 72

Buffalo

Jan. 25, 1940~Dec. 21, 2012

James (Jim) Hoeschen, age 72, of Buffalo, passed away December 21, 2012, surrounded by his family. He faced his cancer with courage, great strength, a sense of humor and a smile.

Jim was born on January 25th, 1940 to Norbert and Verna (Kerfeld) Hoeschen of Freeport, Minnesota. Jim was the oldest of five children. On September 3rd, 1962, he was united in marriage to Evelyn (Evie) Jonas, at St. Martin Catholic Church, in St. Martin, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters. In 1977, Jim and Evie made their home in Buffalo, Minnesota. Jim was a truck driver all of his life, retiring from Super Valu in 2001 after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #120.

Jim loved his family and friends, and shared a special bond with his three grandchildren. He enjoyed the freedom of the open road. He collected Tonka toys and John Deere tractors. Jim enjoyed many card games and was a good player and generally pretty lucky. Much time was spent throwing horseshoes, playing bean bags, going to the casino to try his luck at the slots or bingo and he enjoyed fishing. But most of all, Jim enjoyed people.

Jim is survived by his wife Evie, daughter Brenda Goerke and her husband Reinhardt Jr. and grandchildren Alex and Kayla, of Monticello, and daughter Bev Peitz and her husband Craig and grandson Chad of Buffalo. His family includes Mary Ellen (Melvin) Herbes of St. Cloud, Chris Hoeschen of Cold Spring, Linus (Rita) Hoeschen of Little Falls, Ben (Judy) Hoeschen of St. Cloud; and many relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert (Bob).

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, December 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, in Buffalo, Minnesota, with burial to follow at the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, December 28th and again two hours prior to the service on Saturday, December 29th.
