Memories and Condolences
for Louis Foote

Not sure what to say?

So last Fall I went to a high school reunion, and one of my classmates brought up how deeply moving it was to her spirit when we for the Christmas concert would begin in the bleachers and descend down singing, Let all moral flesh keep silence. It still gives her goosebumps when she thinks of it, and that was over fourty years ago

Bobbi! I am shocked to hear of Louis' passing! But I am not at all surprised to read the accolades by so many of his former students. He and you inspired another Foleyite much earlier! I admired the two of you so greatly during our years at St. Cloud State. Your friendships had a wonderfully positive impact on my life! I'll never forget water-skiing at your lake place and the wonderful magnanimous attitude the both of you showed to all. God bless!

Bobbie & family, Louie was a huge inspiration in my 5 yrs. I was in chorus with him at Foley. He had the ability to connect with students or anyone and make us all feel so uniquely special and valued. We worked hard for him and loved him. He is the reason I am a teacher today; so sorry for your loss. 1974 Mary Ski--Lewandowski Hutton, Hutchinson Kansas

To the family of Louis Foote. I can honestly say he changed the lives of many students and the Foley choir has never been the same. I can remember he took a seventh and eighth grade study hall and made a choir out of it not a lot of talent but we had fun

To the Foote family: I just wanted to offer my sympathy to all of you. I am one of Mr. Foote's former students. I just wanted to say to tell you he was my favorite teacher. He made us as students believe in ourselves when we didn't. One of my favorite memories is of the Christmas concerts when their was a darkened gym and he manage to move 5 grades and get them where they needed to be all the while directing the song "Let all Mortal Flesh". I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for sharing him with us. Take Care and know our prayers are with you. God Bless Shirley(Lentner)Scapanski

The Foote Family-
So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Foote. He was my choir teacher in the 70's. What a wonderful man. To be in his class was the best part of my day. I wonder if many are able to remember when he would do flips in class. He was a blast.

Barbara and family: My heartfelt sympathy go out to you and your family.
When I was in grade school and high school I remember Louis would come down to Lake George and skate. He was so talented(as are you and your family) in the world of music. The last time I saw him was at your retirement party in Sartell. God will surely bless him for all the good work he did as a teacher and in the community.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Louis will be missed, but forgotten,
by the way he touched their lives.

Dear Mr. Foote, as we so properly called you in Foley High school where you so fully gave of yourself through your wonderful musical talent. I know that there was not one person who wasn't touched in some deep way by your love of music. You instilled such a joyful loving presence in all the ways you interacted with we students and how you taught us to love and enjoy music. I know my whole family that belonged to the Foley high school choral were changed into great lovers of music as well. Mr. Foote, may unending joyful music fill your entire being as you now hear the Godliness of all the beautiful music you taught us.

I spent 6 wonderful years in the portable at FHS. I started as a 7th grader...knew nothing about a diaphragm or singing or note reading, By the time I was a senior, Mr Foote had us singing Handel's Messiah. In Latin!!! He was such a gift to us at Foley High School. Thank you, Mr Foote, you were loved by all.

Barb and family,
I was privileged to have Mr. Foote as my choral director at Foley HS. I learned so much from him, the greatest is living life to it's fullest and being proud of one's talents. He was a unique educator in that he never shunned anyone and made everyone experience their talents and everyone left knowing how to use them to the greater glory. Thank you for sharing his talents, energy and presence with us aspiring youth. After all of these years I feel a kindred connection to music and to the man behind my love for music. Thank you and he will be sorely missed but never forgotten. 1982FHS

So sorry for the loss of a great man. Nearly 30 years after my final class with Mr. Foote, I can still confidently declare him one of the most influential people in my life, and I am a better man for having known him. It was Louis who instilled in me a love of music and theater, which has led to a great hobby that I have been able to share with my entire family. Louis saw in individuals that which they couldn't see themselves. May God bless the memory of Louis Foote.

I was a student of Mr. Foote from Foley High School, graduate of 1981. He will always be remembered as a caring, wonderful teacher that we had fun with and learned. We went to State in 1980 and that was a great accomplishment for a town of 1200. But he did it because he was passionate about his students! He will be truly missed!
