Wilfred W. "Bill" Braun, 95 Paynesville Oct. 13, 1920 - May 2, 2016 Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Wilfred W. "Bill" Braun, age 95 of Paynesville who passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Centra Care Health Paynesville Hospital. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Anthony's Parish Cemetery, Regal. Family and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the church. Catholic United Financial will pray a rosary at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements were made by the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville. Bill was born October 13, 1920 in Lake Henry Township, Minnesota the eighth of "five and half dozen" children to Christian and Susan (Pung) Braun. Bill graduated from Belgrade High School in 1938. Bill married Joanne M.  Kollar on October 19, 1968 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Northeast Minneapolis. The couple owned and operated the Lake Henry Bar and Ballroom until retiring in 1981. He was a member of the St. Joseph Society in Lake Henry, Catholic United Financial, former Grand Knight and a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Louis Council #3820. Bill was also a member of St. Louis Parish where he served as an adult altar server, lector and Eucharistic minister. Bill really enjoyed yearly deer hunting trips in Northern Minnesota, ice fishing, especially spearing, goose hunting, lawn work, splitting wood, watching and feeding birds and chasing squirrels from the feeders.  Survivors include his wife, Joanne; sisters, Olivia Fawcett of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Dolores Braun of Paynesville; special nephew, Eugene (Mary) Bierschbach of Clearwater; many other nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Norbert, Henry, Leander and Gerald; sisters, Edith, Aurelia Bierschbach, Thecla Narcisse, Mildred Wazlawik and Hilda Fochs. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Beckers, Walter*  
Walter J. Beckers, 87 St. Cloud Feb. 11, 1929 - Apr. 29, 2016 Walter danced his way to Heaven Friday evening, April 29, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Walter J. Beckers, age 87 of St. Cloud who passed away at the St. Cloud Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Inurnment with military honors will be at the Min- nesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Walter was born on February 11, 1929 to Anton and Gertrude (Vanheel) Beckers. He married Catherine M. Fischer on January 29, 1949 at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. He and Catherine lived in the St. Cloud area.  In 1960 they built a house on Upper Spunk Lake. In 1994, after the children were all grown, they sold their lake home and moved to St. Cloud. They spent winters in Mesa, Arizona. Walter was a member of the St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428. He had been employed as a carman for Burlington Northern Railroad in Waite Park until his retirement.  One of his proudest moments was being a veteran of World War II, having served as a Navy medic on the USS Mercy.  In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and spending time with his family. Walter is survived by his children, Luanne (Ken) Janssen of St. Cloud, Bill (Sharon) of New Munich, Joanne Gretsch of Wayzata, Wally (Jean) of Avon, Cindy (Buster) Fiedler of Albany, Linda (Bill) Salzer of St. Joseph, Mary Zupanc of St. Cloud, Donna (Rick) Scepaniak of Avon, Trudy (Doug Vogt) of Richmond and Dianna (Mike) Esplan of St. Cloud; 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine on July 28, 2004; parents, Anton & Gertrude on May 2, 1971; son-in-law, Thomas A. Zupanc on January 29,2015; grand- son, Scott P. Gretsch on December 17, 2015; brothers, Harold, Herbert, and Arthur; and sister, Irene Spoden. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff at the VA Health Care System in St. Cloud. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last 3 months were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Alvina "Mumzy" Berscheid, 93 Sartell, MN Formerly of Kimball, MN April 10, 1923 - April 29, 2016 Alvina "Mumzy" Berscheid, age 93, of Sartell and formerly of Kimball, died Friday, April 29, 2016 at her granddaughter's home in Sauk Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Church of St. Anne in Kimball with Fr. Thomas Olson as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball and one hour prior to the service, Friday, at the church. Parish Prayers will be held at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Alvina Violet Berscheid was born April 10, 1923 in Olivia to Albert and Minnie (Meier) Yungk. She grew up in Grove City, lived most of her life in Kimball and for the last 6 years she lived in Sartell. On September 1, 1945, Mumzy was united in marriage to Ambrose Paul Berscheid in Litchfield. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and the Kimball American Legion Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Kimball American Legion and spent over 1000 hours volunteering at the St. Cloud V.A. Medical Center.  Alvina enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by three sons Dannis of Coursgold, CA, Marvin (Sue) of Kimball and Duane (Renae) of Kimball; sister Areline Slinden of Litchfield; 11 grandchildren Sara Haile, Sheila Fowler, Sonja Parks, Jason, Erick and Scott Berscheid, Jenny Hamilton, Krissy Kelm, Michelle Spoden, Bonnie and Becky Berscheid; and 22 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband Ambrose; parents Albert and Minnie Yungk; sons Stephen and Eugene; brothers Bennie, Erwin and Richard Yungk; sister Irma Witte; grandson Joel and daughter-in-law Janie.
