Erickson, John M.*  
John M. Erickson, 96 Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, Formerly of St. Cloud, Minnesota John M. Erickson, 96, formerly of St. Cloud, died January 8, 2015 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Memorial services will be Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Columbaium, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN. John Morris Erickson was born April 28, 1918, to Alfred and Laura (Geary) Erickson in Curtiss, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1940, where he majored in chemical engineering. John worked as a chemical engineer for Proctor and Gamble in Chicago until 1943 when he applied for a commission in the Navy. He was commissioned as an Ensign and was assigned to the USS Neshoba. After WWII he continued in the naval reserve until 1954. John was married to Helen Lorentson on June 26, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville, WI. He and Helen lived in Brookings where he taught Math and Chemistry at SDSU while getting his Master's degree. He completed his PhD at Iowa State and returned to SDSU to teach for four years before taking a position as a chemistry professor at St. Cloud State University in 1960. John enjoyed his teaching career and retired in 1982.  John was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he was active in the choir, for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Sons of Norway Trollheim Lodge, Phi Eta Sigma, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Lamba Upsilon, and Sigma Phi Sigma. John enjoyed sports, hunting, camping, traveling, and is best remembered for his love of fishing, which he did as often as he could. John was a devoted father and husband. He was the consummate family man and especially enjoyed with his family summer travels on a shoestring budget and trips to their cabinon Scooty Lake. His mantra of "just one more cast" is never to be forgotten!  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen; his daughters, Jan (Brian) Bensen of St. Cloud, Deborah (Mark) Fisher of Dalton Gardens, ID, Nancy Erickson of Minnetonka, MN and Sandy (Peter) Johnson of Post Falls, ID; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. Memorials preferred to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Choir.

Ecklund, Carl*  
Carl E. Ecklund, 104 Sauk Centre Dec. 4, 1910 - June 24, 2015 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre for Carl Ecklund who died Wednesday at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Carl Edward Ecklund was born December 4, 1910 in Kandota Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Carl O. and Hedvig (Freberg) Ecklund of Sweden.  Carl started school in 1916 where he learned everything he could handle in seven terms, and then passed the eighth grade exams.  His education really started with learning how to farm and to do what your folks told you to do. On November 14, 1931 he married Mary Ahrens.  They made their home on the farm in Birchdale Township, where they had five children.  In October of 1992, they moved to Sauk Centre. Carl farmed and also worked for a number of businesses including Northrup King and Company in Minneapolis in 1948 and 1949, Emil Hanson and Sons of the Lake Lillian Silo Company in 1951, People Ice Company of Sauk Centre in 1952, Brown and Legiul in Mankato in 1953, and D.H. Blattner and Sons in Albany from 1954 until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.  Carl loved dancing, fishing, any activity relating to the outdoors, and enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and poker. Survivors include his children, Eugene Ecklund of Moorhead, Elaine (Rudy) Beste of Sauk Centre, Raymond Ecklund of Clarissa, and Vera Zagar of Hugo; 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great grandchildren;  brother, Art Ecklund of Cedar Falls, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Rose Ecklund and Fern Ahrens of Sauk Centre; and brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Erma Ahrens of Osakis. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ecklund on October 20, 1994; parents; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Gertrude Olson Ahrens; son, Duane Ecklund; grandson, Scott Ecklund; and brother and sister-in-law, John and Alice Ecklund, Joe and Carol Ecklund, and Victor and Albert "Jerome" Ecklund; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Helmer Sevesin and Robert Plant, Mary and Ben Determan, Ida and Clarence Peherson and Ed Henningsgard, Ellen and Dave Dunning; and sister-in-law, Mabel Ecklund; daughters-in-laws, Dorothy Niehaus Ecklund, Margaret Lindback Ecklund, Essie Ilgen Ecklund; and son-in-law, Frances (Dick) Zagar.

Erdmann, Floyd O.*  
Floyd O. Erdmann, 93 Rice June 6, 1922 - June 26, 2015 Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Rice for Floyd O. Erdmann, 93 of Rice who passed away on Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital with his loving family by his side. Rev. Robert Trinklein will officiate and burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and 1 hour prior to services Tuesday at the church in Rice. Floyd Oscar Erdmann was born on June 6, 1922. He was the only child of Michael and Ida (Albrecht) Erdmann. Floyd was married to Phyllis A. Anderson on October 31, 1953 in Isle. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He spent time as a child showing his animals at the Minnesota State Fair.  He raised polled herferd beef cattle and also raised chickens as well as hogs. He owned and operated Erdmann Construction for many years. Floyd was a member of the Rice American Legion Post 473. Survivors include his sons and daughters, Lloyd (Debbie) of Rice, Dale (Kathy) of Annandale, Brian (Wendy) of Rice, Sally (Charlie) Loehrer of Rice and Nancy (Paul) Billmeyer of Rice, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Phyllis.
