Oft times He weaveth sorrow and I, in foolish pride, Forget He sees the upper, And I the under side. Not till the loom is silent And the shuttles cease to fly, Shall God unroll the canvas And explain the reason why. The dark threads are as needful In the Weaver's skillful hand, As the threads of gold and silver In the pattern He has planned. He knows, He love, He cares, Nothing this truth can dim. He gives His very best to those Who leave the choice with Him. ~ Author Unknown

Bluhm, Helen I.*
Helen I. Bluhm, 92 Paynesville September 16, 1922 - December 2, 2014 Helen I. Bluhm age 92 of Paynesville died on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Cherrywood Assisted Living in St. Cloud. Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville. Burial will be at the Paynesville Cemetery. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Helen I. Bluhm, 92, completed her life here on earth December 2, 2014. She took hold of the Lord's hands to begin a new journey safe in the loving arms of her good and gracious Lord, where she will be reunited with her beloved husband, Duane, whom she deeply missed everyday and was taken from us July 26, 2007, as well as daughter Debra, parents, brother, Jim, and twin sister, Doris and Dorothy. The youngest child of John and Edith Kreuzberger, Helen was born September 16, 1922. She was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Duluth. She graduated from Duluth Central High School and attended University of Minnesota, Duluth.Helen met the handsome Duane Bluhm in 1937 and on June 30, 1945 Helen married the love of her life in Duluth. Duane and Helen were fortunate to have shared 62 years of love and commitment. Together they raised and always will be remembered for having shared her life by their children Wendy (Gordon), Linda (Ben), and Randy (Kim). Blessed with grandchildren Chad, Kristi, Meegan, Gina, Kirsten, and Parker. Doubly blessed with great grandchildren Elliott, Kendall, Araya, Alana, Logan, Zachariah, and Zion, who always brought a smile to her face. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Doris Kreuzberger. brother-in-law, Lee Bluhm, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Helen and Duane lived in Paynesville their entire married life. She was a stay at home Mom raising their three children. She enjoyed baking, canning her famous garlic dill pickles, counted cross stitch, tending her gardens, especially her roses, and always ready to play Aggravation with Dad. She spent countless hours babysitting her grandchildren, her gentle manner and caring spirit allowed her to unselfishly and willingly to be Duane's caregiver for many years. She was a Paynesville Legion Auxiliary member for 68 years, charter member of the Unity Rebekah Lodge #129, Booklover's Club, Paynesville Historical Society, and member of the Paynesville Senior Club. Helen served as a director, leader, and member of the Girl Scouts for 50 years. Because of her dedication and endless hours of commitment to this program, was selected as Grand Marshall of the Paynesville Town & Country parade in 1975. An honor that was deeply humbling to her. In their retirement Dad and Mom looked forward to being snowbirds to Arizona. They enjoyed the desert warmth, playing cards, dancing, and spending countless hours with the many friends they made. Helen's love for her God and strong faith was shared with Duane, as a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where they renewed their wedding vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. Her generous heart made her a kind, giving, and loving friend to all. She had endless patience, energy and zest for life. In her later years the fog of her memory loss became difficult because of her Alzheimer's, but she never complained. Complaining wasn't in her vocabulary. She handled her disease with amazing dignity and grace. Helen's final resting place will be the Paynesville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to our Dad. Helen's family invites everyone touched by this beautiful, Christian woman, to join them in celebrating her life on December 27 at 11:00 at the Johnson Funeral Home, Paynesville. We ask that you celebrate her life, not mourn her leaving. We will mourn the loss we feel, but not as those without hope. Her family is grateful that we have been amazingly blessed to have been a part of her life. Our thanks and prayers are forever with you Mom. You made our lives immeasurably better. The measure of the world is now down by one good lady. Sleep well you have earned it. Well done good and faithful servant. Until we meet again. Helen's family would like to acknowledge Cherrywood of St. Cloud and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care given to Mom at the end of her life. You may if you wish, to honor Helen's memory, in lieu of flowers give a memorial to St. Croix Hospice.
