Margaret O. "Marge" Gruenes, 67 St. Cloud, Minnesota Oct. 18, 1948 ~ Apr. 25, 2016 Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 2nd at 11:00 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Eagan, for Margaret O. "Marge" Gruenes, age 67, of St. Cloud, who died on Monday at the Country Manor Health Care  Center in Sartell.  Rev Charles Lachowitzer and Rev Doug Ebert will concelebrate.  Visitation will be after 9:30 AM Monday Morning at the Church in Eagan. There will be a second Mass for Marge on Tuesday May 3rd at 11:00 AM at the Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley.  Rev Robert Rolfes and Rev Aaron Nett will concelebrate.  Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:30 AM at the Church. Marge was born October 18th, 1948 in St. Cloud to Anton and Anna (Kaltoff) Gruenes.  She was the youngest of nine children and attended Assumption Catholic Grade School in Eden Valley, and Eden Valley High School.  She graduated from the College of St. Benedict with a BA in Education and taught 16 years in the St. Cloud School District.  She earned her Master's in Administration from the University of Minnesota and Specialist in Administration from St. Cloud State University.  She served as an elementary principal in the Apple Valley-Eagan-Rosemount School District for 18 years. After she retired in 2008, she returned to teaching at the College of St. Benedict.  She also served as the past president of the CSB Alumni Assn and as an Oblate at St. Benedicts Monastery. Marge served as Chairwoman for the Republican Party in the State of Minnesota, President of the Minnesota Federation of Republican Women and assisted numerous candidates for public office.  She was appointed by President George H. Bush as a commissioner of the National Scholars Committee.  Marge loved her parish at St. John Neumann in Eagan where she served as scheduler of Eucharistic Ministers, member of the Parish Council, and board member of Faithful Shepherd Catholic School.  In St. Cloud, she was vice president of the St. Cloud Serra Club, and weekly read and taped the St. Cloud Visitor for the visually impaired. Survivors include brothers and sister, Peter Gruenes (Grace) Eden Valley, Al Gruenes (Rose) Colon, NE, Joseph Gruenes (Anna Mae) Eden Valley, Tony Gruenes (Mary) Spring Hill, Jack Gruenes (Mary) Watkins, and Theresa Stang (Arnie) Richmond. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Rev Bernie Gruenes, and infant sister, Rita. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Faithful Shepherd Catholic School or charities of the donor's choice.

Jeanette "Jan" M. Hiemenz, 76 St. Joseph May 30, 1939 - Apr. 26, 2016 Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Joseph for Jeanette "Jan" M. Hiemenz, age 76, of St. Joseph, who passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at her home. The Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Joseph.   Jeanette was born on May 30, 1939 to William and Ludwina (Machtemas) Achman in Avon, MN. She attended St. Benedict's High School in St. Joseph. She later went on to the College of St. Scholastica and then medical tech school. She married William "Bill" Hiemenz on October 11, 1969 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Avon. Prior to their marriage she worked as a medical technician and later worked for the Montevideo school district as an ECFE teacher's assistant. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Montevideo for many years. She was currently a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Jan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts, reading, cooking and finding new recipes, going for walks and being active, planting flower beds, traveling throughout Europe, and going on cruises. She is survived by her husband, Bill of 46 years; children, Chad (Darci) of Gretna, NE, Craig (Heather) of Centerville, MN, Holly (Mike) Sonntag of Lino Lakes, MN, Heidi (Daryl) Schaefer of St. Joseph, MN; grandchildren, Cole and Kylie, Will and Sam Sonntag, and Taylar, Zac, and Keaton Schaefer, step-grandchildren, Chandler and Ashley Krohn; brothers, Glen and Bill (Dorothy) Achman. Jan is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Rose Achman.

Erwin H. "Erv" Hiltner, 80 Sauk Centre formerly of Elk River July 3, 1935 - April 27, 2016 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre for Erwin Hiltner who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Erwin Henry Hiltner was born July 3, 1935 in Melrose, Minnesota to Joseph and Josepha (Middendorf) Hiltner.  Erv grew up in New Munich and went to Catholic School there and remained on the farm until marriage. He married  Margaret "Marge" Messer on September 20, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis.  After ten years of marriage, the couple moved to Elk River to raise their family.  He worked at Crown Iron Works and had his own furniture refinishing business.  After retirement, Erv continued with his furniture refinishing business.  The couple lived in Elk River for 50 years before returning to the Sauk Centre area.   He attended St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3264. Erv enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing and playing cards. Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Marge" Hiltner of Sauk Centre; children, Bob Hiltner of Nowthen, Jerry Hiltner of Osakis, and Michael (Suzanne) Hiltner of Clear Lake; eight grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Louis (Rita) Hiltner of Sauk Centre, Doris (Eddie) Schneider of Cold Spring, Vernon (Carol) Hiltner of Coon Rapids, John (Eileen) Hiltner of New York, and Jane (Virgil) Fuchs of Belgrade; and sister-in-law, Patty (Allan) Ehlert of St. Joseph. Erv was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe Hiltner, Jr. and George Hiltner; and sisters, Edna Cherne, Marie Voss, and Louise Loxtercamp.
