Arlene J. Lewandowski, age 72, of Foley, passed away Sunday January 13, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman. The Rev. Leo Moenkedick and Rev. Daniel Walz will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at church. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home.
Arlene Lewandowski was born October 19, 1940 in Granite Ledge Twp., Benton Co., MN to Clarence and Marion (Stewart) Leason. She was raised on a farm near Oak Park and graduated from high school in 1958. Arlene met the love of her life, Ernie Lewandowski, and they got married on June 3, 1959 at St. John's Catholic Church in Foley. They lived their married life of 53 years with their family on the farm they presently live on today. Arlene was devoted to her Catholic religion and the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman. She played organ, was a Eucharistic Minister, member of the church council, served on the Christian Mothers for 50 years, and was a religion teacher for 22 years. She enjoyed and loved music. She was talented at playing the piano, organ and accordion. She also had a beautiful voice. She was a good seamstress and took pleasure in sewing for her family. Arlene worked at Fingerhut in St. Cloud and Princeton for 5 years. She worked at the Foley Nursing Center in both nursing and the activity department for 30 years. She enjoyed trips with her loving husband and loved driving her John Deere tractor in the Gilman Days Parade. she always put the wants and needs of others before her own.
She is survived by her husband, Ernie, Foley; son and daughters, Lyle (Kathy), Foley; Lisa (Joel) Ziegler, Foley; Diana (Giles) Gorecki, Foley; Donna (Tom) Skaggs, Foley; 9 grandchildren, Lindsey Skaggs, Brandon Ziegler, Terry Skaggs, Shawny Skaggs, Dillon Gorecki, Chelsey Ziegler, Devin Gorecki, Halley Skaggs, and Ben Lewandowski; 1 great-grandchild, Hank Paggen; and sister, JoAnn Beutz.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lynn, parents and brother, Clarence Jr.
