Veteran Danny Lenarz passed away on November 7th in Duluth. There will be a gathering of friends at 3 p.m. Friday Nov. 16th at the Wapicada Golf Course in St. Cloud, and on Sat. Nov. 17th, from 2-5 p.m. at 1931 West 7th St. in Duluth. He grew up in the Pantown area of St. Cloud and went to St. Peters School, South Junior High, Shattuck Military School and graduated from St. Cloud Tech in 1966. He received the Purple Heart
and Bronze Star
for his efforts in Vietnam. He was retired from the Army in 1972 and did a lot of traveling before buying a home in Duluth. He had successful businesses in Duluth until 2009. He began to travel back to Vietnam in the winters and enjoyed the people of the China Beach area of Vietnam. He spent the summers with his friends on the North Shore. He was an active member of the St. Cloud Smelters, a group of friends that enjoyed their smelting weekends for almost 50 years. He enjoyed golf, photography, travel and of course, partying with his friends. He is survived by brothers Nick, John, Mike, Pat and sister Mary; nieces Jenny, Emily, Katie and Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Dorthea Lenarz. He will be missed by those he touched with his life.
