Darrell "Bud" Fuecker, 78

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Darrell "Bud" Fuecker, age 78, who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7th at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m., Friday morning at the funeral home.
Bud was born on a farm in Hawick, MN to Chester and Grace (Ferrier) Fuecker. He graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1952 and immediately went into the U.S. Navy
. Bud served 23 years active duty and 7 years in the Navy Fleet Reserve before retiring in 1982 as Masterchief. He served during the Korean and Vietnam War
s. He then worked at the Cold Spring American Legion as Manager and American Linen Supply Company in St. Cloud, MN as a mechanic before retiring in 1994. Bud married Mercedes Madelo on February 3, 1975 in Manila, Philippines. They had one daughter and two sons together and raised their children in Cold Spring, MN.
Bud was loved by many and enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing off his dock, going on the pontoon in the summer or doing crossword puzzles in recent years. He had many great stories about his time in the military. Bud was passionate about the ships he served on, the USS Preston, USS Lofberg, USS Foss, and USS Fletcher before retiring on the USS John R. Craig. He enjoyed getting out of the house and visiting and talking to people when he had the chance. Bud will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 39 years, Mercy; children, Jackie (Gary) Gertken of Paynesville, Jason Fuecker of Rock Springs, WY, Brian Fuecker of Cold Spring; grandchildren, Derik and Dylan Gertken, and Hunter Fuecker; siblings, twin sister, Carol (Ken) Sykora of Brooklyn Park, Pat (Art) Leistman of Paynesville, Fred (Nancy) of Bloomington, Jean (Leroy) Bie of Newberg, OR, Robert Fuecker of Crystal, and Rick (Cindy) Fuecker of Kimball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Grace Fuecker.
