Denis F. Baron, age 81, of Foley, died Thursday August 7, 2014 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman. The Rev. Daniel Walz will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with full military honors provided by the Foley American Legion #298. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Monday at the Foley Funeral Home and also 1 hour prior to services at church. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home.
Denis Francis Baron was born April 16, 1933 in Gilmanton Township to Thomas and Martha (Goltz) Baron. Denis lived and farmed all his life in Gilmanton Township. He graduated from Foley High School in 1951 and proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He married Teresa Legatt on May 6, 1958 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, St. Stephen, MN. The couple made their home farming in rural Gilman. He was a life member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where he served as an usher for 35 years, past member of the Gilman VFW and current member of Sauk Rapids VFW. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to donor's choice.
Denis is survived by his wife Teresa; sons and daughters; Cheryl (John) Gadacz of Hillman, Gerard Baron of Foley, Marlene (Brad) Ramler of St. Michael, Dale Baron of Foley, Danielle (Dave) Betterman of Cedar; grandchildren: Maria (Adam) Orton, Donna Gadacz, Carl Gadacz, Justin (Nicole) Ramler, Lexy Ramler, Chloe Betterman, Tabitha Better- man, Andrew Betterman; great grandchildren; Gabe and Brooklyn Orton, Roxy and Charlotte Ramler; siblings: Cyril (Sueli DeSilva) Baron of San Antonio, TX, Phylis Ackerman of St. Cloud, Thomas (Judy) Baron of Foley, Joan (Larry) Sworski of Wadena and Sue (Joe) Houdek of Little Falls.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Agnes Brunn-Baron, brothers and sisters; Benedict, Adelbert, Julian, Rose Mary DeKoning, Angela Niedzielski and Francis.
