Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waite Park, Minnesota for Donald A. Euteneuer, age 91, of Waite Park. Don passed away peacefully on March 2, 2014 at Assumption Home in Cold Spring with family at his side. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Waite Park with full military honors.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be held 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church in Waite Park.

Don was born November 21, 1922 in St. Cloud to Albert and Elizabeth (Heurung) Euteneuer. He graduated 10th in his class from St. Cloud Cathedral in 1940. He received a scholarship to St. John's University. He relocated to southern California where he worked for McDonnell-Douglas. He entered the U.S. Army from 1943-1946 to serve his country during WWII. He married Ethel A. Meemken on September 2, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waite Park. He worked at the VA Medical Center in the Finance Department until he retired in 1980. He was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish and St. Cloud Eagles Aerie 622. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 428 for 60 years, where he held various offices which included Adjutant for 30 years, Post Commander and as a member of the Executive Board. In addition he held the offices of Vice-Commander and Commander in the Minnesota 6th District.

Don was a strong advocate for education and strongly encouraged his children and grandchildren to work hard and do their best in school. He continued to serve his country with his work in the American Legion, annually visiting community schools on Veteran's Day, and through his involvement in the ROTC Program at St. John's University.

Don loved watching any kind of sport, especially the Vikings and Twins. He really enjoyed sharing in a good competitive game of Cribbage.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Ethel of Cold Spring, children Ron Euteneuer of Sartell, Kevin (Jean) Euteneuer of Waite Park, Eileen (Brian) Kvarnlov of Big Lake, Mary Lynn (Bob) Statz of Princeton, Gary (Coni) Euteneuer of Waite Park and Cindy (Steve) Bautch of St. Cloud, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a 13th expected in August.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and brothers Gerald and LeRoy and daughter-in-law Nancy (12-1-2013).

Don's family would like to thank the staff of Assumption Home in Cold Spring and the wonderful caregivers of St. Croix Hospice.
