Doris A. Ludeman, age 90 of Spicer died on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London. Funeral service will be 11:00am on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Evangelical Free Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Doris Adelia Ludeman was born on January 26, 1922 in Kerkhoven, the daughter of Nimrod and Esther (Peterson) Fanberg. She grew up in Kerkhoven where she graduated from Kerkhoven High School in the class of 1940. Doris then attended Bethel College in St. Paul where she received a Degree in Elementary education. She received a Master's degree In English from Northern Illinois University. She received a Specialist Degree in Reading from St. Cloud State University. Doris taught in several communities around Southern Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Vernon Ludeman on June 9, 1951 at the Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church in Kerkhoven. The couple lived in Kerkhoven, MN, Rolla Missouri-Fort Leonard Wood, Sleep Eye, MN, Greeley, CO, Dekalb, IL, Sycamore, IL, Mankato, MN. In 1969 they resided in St. Cloud, Minnesota where Vern was a professor at St. Cloud State University. The couple retired in 1993 moving to Spicer, Minnesota.
Doris was an active member within the community churches she lived in. Doris served as a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir, and was a bookkeeper. She was also active with Bible Study Fellowship in St. Cloud, Minnesota as Children's Director. Doris was a member of Willmar Evangelical Free Church.
She enjoyed crocheting and was an avid reader. She was the family historian, remembering all of the family events and keeping family records for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her husband of 61 years, Vern Ludeman of Spicer; her sister, Joyce Lenger of Michigan, her three children, Lois (Jim) Anderson of Nisswa, MN, Doug Ludeman, of Yorba Linda, CA, and Dale (Annette) Ludeman of Rockford, IL.; six grandchildren: Scott (Myndee) Anderson, Nathan (Erica) Anderson, Laura (Josh) Clagett, Daniel Ludeman, Gabriela Ludeman, Andrew Ludeman; three great grandchildren: Luke, Grant and Toriana (Scott and Myndee) and several nieces nephews and other relatives.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Florence (Wayne) Webb, Louise (Lester) Smith, Beda (J. Vernon) Anderson, Alice (Roland) Jackson; bothers: Eugene (Lila) Fanberg, Gordon (Florence) Fanberg, and Frank (Thelma) Fanberg; and daughter-in-law Michele Marie (Doug) Ludeman.
