Dorothy A. Johnson, 88

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for Dorothy Alma Johnson, age 88, of St. Cloud who died Sunday at Country Manor Assisted Living in Sartell. Rev. Dee Pederson will officiate. Friends and relatives may call after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church in St. Cloud. Arrangements were entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Dorothy was born April 8, 1924 in Minneapolis to Leo & Mary (Jindra) Bentley. She married Lawrence E. Johnson on November 18, 1944 in Hopkins where she lived in her earlier years and then moved to Canada and ultimately, the St. Cloud area where she spend most of her life. She was a homemaker who also worked for a time in the lunchroom at Westwood Elementary. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was active in the quilting and sewing circles and spent many hours sewing items for children and babies being missioned around the world.

Dorothy enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their cabin in Crosslake and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy also enjoyed trips to the casino, shopping, sewing, knitting and cooking and was known for her delicious Chow Mein and BBQ ribs. Dorothy was a caring, loving person who focused on the good in others. She would do anything for anyone and thoroughly enjoyed life!

Survivors include her children, Ronald (Marilyn) Johnson of Clearwater, Robert (Mary) Johnson of Alaska, Roxanne (Gregory) Hoye of St. Cloud; brothers, Marvin (Nancy) Bentley of St. Cloud, David (Kathy) Bentley of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Christopher, Lindsey, Melissa, Sara and Amanda; great grandchildren, Calie, Westen, Mason and Julia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Larry on May 26, 2001.
