Elaine Elenora Sather, age 95, of Sauk Rapids, passed away Sunday, Nov.17, 2013, at St. Cloud Hospital. She was born April 22, 1918, in Crandon, South Dakota, to Edwin and Emma (Meinert) Harmening, and lived there until moving to the Sleepy Eye, MN, area in 1935.

Elaine married Elmer Sather on May 20, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN. They made their home in Franklin where they raised two daughters and were active community members. She worked as a crafts director and aide at the Franklin Nursing Home and as an Avon Lady. In retirement, she and Elmer visited Hawaii and spent 15 winters on the Mississippi Coast. Elaine enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing cards, walking and baking treats for many area groups as well as demonstrating lefse making at area nursing.

Elaine moved to the Good Shepherd Nursing Home Community of Sauk Rapids in 2006. At the Oaks Apts, she enjoyed making new friends and joined Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Lutheran Women in Mission, and Red Hats. She loved bingo and pokeno. Since July 2012, she had resided at the Memory Cottages. She continued her baking hobby at these facilities.

Left to cherish Elaine's memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon (Ronald) Eickhoff, St. Cloud, and Ardyne (Gerald) Pickard, Ocean Springs, MS; grandchildren Bill Eickhoff of Esko, Lea Pickard (Douglas White) of Jackson, MS, Mitch Eickhoff of St. Cloud, Nathan (Jessica Mueller) Eickhoff of Minneapolis; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Olivia Eickhoff and Jack Pickard-White.

Services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Sauk Rapids at 10 am Tuesday, preceded by visitation at 9 am. At 2:30 pm, visitation will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran in Franklin, followed by a graveside service at 3:45 pm at Hauge's Cemetery, rural Franklin.

Memorials are preferred to one of her two churches or to LCMS Disaster Relief for typhoon aid to the Philippines, which Elaine visited and loved.
