Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, May 2nd, 2014, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for George LaDouceur who passed away on Saturday in Brentwood, TN.  Friends and relatives may call from 4-8PM Thursday, May 1st at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services Friday at the church in St. Cloud.  St. Augustine's Parish prayers will be at 4PM followed by Waite Park American Legion Post # 428 praying at 5PM, St. Cloud VFW Post # 4847 praying at 5:30PM, French Canadian Club of St. Cloud praying at 6PM, and Knights of Columbus Council #961 praying at 6:30PM.  4th degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 5-8PM.

George was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward and Rose Alba (Poirier) LaDouceur.  The LaDouceur family moved to Mora, Minnesota in August of 1931. George was raised on a farm in rural Mora with his siblings. He graduated from Mora High School in May of 1944.  Following graduation, George entered the military service and served as part of the occupation force in Japan. After completion of two tours in Korea, he was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1951.  Following his military service, George return to Mora. It was there the he met Marian Marketon. Following a romantic courtship, they were married on January 30, 1950 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mora. After several years of owning George's Cities Service, the couple moved with their son, Michael, to St. Cloud, Minnesota. He worked for Prudential Insurance Co and retired after 30 years. Following retirement, George and Marian continued to be active in the community with the VFW 4847 in St. Cloud, American Legion Post 428 in Waite Park, the French Canadian Society, and the Knights of Columbus. While serving the Knights he achieved his 3rd and 4th degrees. He was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus as Grand Knight for St. Cloud Council #961, Faithful Navigator, and Honor Guard Commander for the Father Pierz Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.  George was inducted into the state of Minnesota 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Hall of Fame in 2008. George loved working with his hands and completed the restoration of his 1968 Pontiac Catalina convertible. After many years of finding parts and a labor of love his dream came to fruition. George and Marian made many special friends over the years. Following the passing of his beloved wife of 59 years, George moved to Brentwood to be close to his son and family. While in Brentwood, George continued to have a positive impact on those around him. He made many new friends while living at Mourning Pointe.

George is survived by his loving son, Dr. Michael (Penny) LaDouceur of Brentwood, TN; grandsons, Alexander of Houston, TX, and Zachary of Knoxville, TN; step-granddaughters, Mackenzie Grimes of Chattanooga, TN, and Sydney Grimes of Nashville, TN; sister, Faye Jarvis of Golden Valley, MN; brother, Joseph of Omak, WA; bother in law, Raymond Marketon of Brooklyn Park, MN; 14 nieces and 12 nephews.

George is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marion, on February 22, 2013; brothers, Hector and Omer; sister, Roseanne; and infant brother, Maurice.

George's family would like to thank the  staff at Mourning Pointe assisted living and Somerfield Health Care for their kindness and care which went above and beyond the call of duty.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice House and the Knights of Columbus, St Cloud chapter.
