Gladys "Glady" Kammeier, 77, died from a sudden cerebral accident on March 4, 2014 at the Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida. She was born in the St. Cloud Hospital on February 4, 1937. She lived with her parents Joseph and Irene Horsch in St. Joseph and attended St. Cloud Technical High School graduating in 1955. She enrolled at St. Cloud State College for a year but the opportunity arose for her to fulfill her girlhood dream of becoming an airline attendent. She completed training in Texas and began flying for Braniff Airways. She married Richard "Dick" Kammeier, formerly of Cold Spring, Minnesota and joined him at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, South Carolina where he was currently stationed. They moved around the United States and also spent a tour in England. Two children were born at Walter Reed Hospital.
In 1974 they were transferred to MacDill AFB where Gladys worked as an administrative assistant to Deputy Commander of Central Command. Her husband had retired but she continued to work at Central Command. Glady retired in 2004 with forty one years of service to her country. During that time she had completed a bachelors degree at St. Leo College and two masters' degrees at The University of South Florida. She was living in The Villages, Florida at the time of her death. She is survived by her loving husband, two childen: Mitch (56) of Land O'Lakes and Mary Neswiacheny (55) of Port Orange, Florida, plus two sisters Lillian Kuebelbeck and Dolores Gober. A memorial service is scheduled for March 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church at 5323 E. CR 462 in Wildwood, Florida. Donations to Cornerstone Hospice of The Villages in lieu of flowers.
