Grace Ann Peteler, 86

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Grace Ann Peteler, 86, of Paynesville will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Grace died peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church. ASL Services will be provided for both the visitation and the Mass. Arrangements are with Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville.
Grace was born on October 27, 1927 in Hopkins, Minnesota to John "Jack" and Margaret (Mason) Schneider. Grace grew up with four siblings. When her mother passed away in 1940, she and her sister Lorraine helped care for their younger siblings. She graduated from Hopkins High School in 1946. She married her high school sweetheart, Ellingson "Dwight" Peteler on June 5, 1948 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hopkins; they shared 65 years of marriage together. They lived in Hopkins, raising their four children until 1972, and then moved the family to Paynesville, where they owned and operated Culligan Water Conditioning. She was the bookkeeper and when they sold the business they retired together.
She was very active in the community. Grace served on the Paynesville Health System as Board Chairperson for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Grace loved playing Bridge, Somba, and any card or board game. She volunteered her time to bring those who couldn't drive to their hair appointments every Friday. Grace loved knitting, and crocheting, sewing, gardening, baking her specialty desserts, and most importantly; spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
As a devoted and loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and great grandmother; she leaves behind her sons, Gregory (fiancé Ann Sobczyk) Peteler of Omaha, NE, Jay (Sandy) Peteler of Sartell; daughters, Suzanne (Paul) Geppert of St. Joseph, Beth (Jim) Schultz of Hawick . She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and leaves behind, Cara (Karl) Sanborn, TJ (Trish) Schultz, Gina (Nick) Pung, Jonathon (finacee Kelsey Kay) Younkin, Emily (Brian) Macht, Gregory (Candi) Peteler Jr. and Chris McKittrick; and 14 great grandchildren. She leaves behind her sisters, Lorraine (Jay) Skoglund, Nancy (Wayne) Tschimperle; and brother, Gene (Special Friend Barb) Schneider.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband in October of 2013; parents, and brother, Ramon Schneider.
