A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Silver Creek for Gustave "Gus" Miller, 76 of Maple Lake who died Friday. Rev. Norman Hanan will officiate and burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, in Annandale.
Gus was born on March 5, 1936 in Fair Haven Township to Gust and Olive (Mattson) Miller. He lived in Michigan and Kentucky for most of his adult life and recently returned home to Minnesota in 2010. Gus married Edna Garner in 1967 in Warren, MI. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged. Gus worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the 49er's Union, and operating engineers 324 Michigan. He loved making cars and trucks faster in his younger years. Gus was very witty and could come up with a saying for anything. He enjoyed western movies and Nascar. Gus's faith and family were very important to him.
Gus is survived by his children, Randy (Julie) of St. Cloud, Jeff (Jan) of St. Cloud, Wendy (Dale) Johnson of Maple Lake, Wayne (Jolee) of St. Cloud; sister, Rosanna Miller-Ojala of St. Cloud; grandchildren Anna Schlien, Dustin, Jeremy, Robb, Gus, Mollie, Shawn, Jamie, Amelia Gapinski; great grand-children, Harper, Mayla, and Kaitlyn Schlien.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna; brothers, Warren, Leonard, Russel, Phillip, Elwood, Douglas, Donald; sister, Katherine.
Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Silver Creek.
