Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake for Karen Jane Wentland, age 57 of Rice who passed away on Thursday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Fr. Thomas Becker and Fr. Tim Wenzel will officiate and burial will be at the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake and also one hour prior to services at the church in Mayhew Lake on Monday. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the church followed by Christian Mothers praying the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home.

 Karen was born on May 27, 1956 in Joplin, Missouri. She was raised by her loving parents Richard and Evelyn Jane (Roe) McDonald.  She married Duane Wentland on June 30, 1979 in La Porte, Indiana. After relocating to Rice in 1980, Karen raised her two daughters and provided daycare for the beloved neighborhood children. She later worked at Wolters Kluwer.  She was an active member at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake and a member of the Christian Mothers. Karen enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking, camping and fishing. She was well known for her black eyed peas every New Year's Eve. Karen was caring, kind and loving. Her family was very important to her.

Survivors include her husband, Duane of Rice; daughters, Carissa Jane (Sean Abraham) Wentland of Swartz Creek, MI and Amy Lorraine (Anthony Zbacnik) Wentland of Wauwatosa, WI; mother, Evelyn McDonald of Rockport, TX; and siblings, Steve (Kelly) Dickens of Rockport, TX, Cheryl (Gary) Ostemeyer of Oakley, KS, Debbie (Dave) Vogel of Independence, MO, Brenda Mercer of Independence, MO, and Mike (Jacque) McDonald of Reeds, MO. Karen was preceded in death by her father.

Memorials are preferred to the Coborn Cancer Center.
