Martha Lieser, 85
August 20, 1928 - December 20, 2013
Martha Mathilda (Caspers) Lieser, age 85, was born on August 20, 1928, in Sacred Heart, MN, the daughter of George & Lena (Dannen) Caspers. Martha married Reuben Lieser on June 25, 1955, in Clara City, MN. She worked for the 1st National Bank in Worthington as a teller for many years, later taking a position at the Worthington Senior High as an English/Social Studies Resource staff. Martha also worked with Reuben part-time as a bartender/waitress team at the Worthington American Legion. Martha came to know and befriend many people in the Worthington area due to her outgoing nature and draw to people oriented jobs. Martha actively participated in many community organizations. She volunteered her services in ways that promoted faith formation and stewardship for her church, advanced higher quality lives for people with disabilities and various other community endeavors. Martha enjoyed gardening of vegetables & flowers, preserving the harvest, organizing coffee clutches and spending time with her ever expanding family. Martha will be remembered and loved by many. Martha died on Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Martha is survived by her four children, Cyndi (Rick) Morrison of Brewster, MN, Tim (Judy) Lieser of Cold Spring, MN, Deb (Randy) Bruns of Worthington, MN and Mark (Jill) Lieser of Sauk Rapids, MN; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, George & Lena Caspers; her loving husband, Reuben, and her sisters, Gladys Bestge and Tillie Meints.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013, at 10:30 am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Jim Callahan officiating. Martha's grandsons, Travis Morrison, Josh Morrison, Eric Morrison, Matthew Lieser, Ryan Lieser, Derek Lieser and Michael Lieser will be pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Devin Lieser and Nathan Lieser. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Worthington.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN is in charge of the arrangements.
