Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Melvin "Mel" B. Thull who passed away on Monday, April 28. Rev. Tom Knoblach will officiate and burial will be in the Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, May 2nd at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Parish prayers will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Friday at the Funeral Home.
Mel was born in Melrose, Minnesota to Edwin and Levina (Moening) Thull. After proudly serving in the United States Army with a tour in Korea, he married Rosetta "Mitzie" Schwartz on April 14, 1964 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mel worked as a mechanic at Purity Dairy Company, Gene's Tire Service, and Joe's Auto and Truck, retiring in 2007. He loved tinkering on cars and trucks as well as watching amateur baseball, the MN Twins and Vikings. Mel also was a card player and a dice shaker playing 6-5-4 with a hoot and a holler. Mel has always had a "lucky gene" and a sweet tooth to match. Mel was a generous, giving person with lots of friends. He was good at telling stories and had a sense of humor and a great laugh to go with it. Mel's family meant the world to him and he will be dearly missed.
Mel is survived by his children, Lisa Thull and Michael (Nicole) Thull of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Alaina, Elizabeth, Andrew, Austin, Kailyn, and Brandon; brother, Leroy (Dorothy) Thull of St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosetta "Mitzie", and infant daughter, Gloria; siblings, sister, Mary Lou and infant brother, Joseph.
