A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, MN for Mildred "Millie" Clara Nelson, age 89, who passed away Sunday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. There will be a gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Millie at her daughter's home following the graveside service. Arrangements have entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

Millie was born March 31, 1923 on the family farm in McKenzie County, North Dakota to Erick and Rena (Holme) Nordeng. She graduated from Watford City High School and from NDSU with a BS degree in Home Economics. Her first job was as the Chippewa County 4-H Extension agent in Montevideo, Minnesota. There she met her husband Walter F. Nelson whom she married July 31, 1949. He died in 1977. Millie taught school in Lake Crystal, Rush City, St. Paul and Coon Rapids. Walt and Millie enjoyed camping, dancing, playing cards and entertaining-she was an excellent cook. Millie married Pete Eikren and lived in Alexander, North Dakota for three years. After her divorce, she moved to St. Cloud to be near her daughter and family. Millie held various jobs in St. Cloud including working at Sam's Club and the Americana Inn. Millie's priorities in life were family, faith, and friends. Her family was very important to her, not wanting to miss any special event of her grandkids nor of her nieces /nephews. She was active in Atonement Lutheran Church and Whitney Senior Center as well as other organizations in St. Cloud. She was a "people-person"-enjoying dancing, old time music, playing cards, doing crafts, and traveling. She was proud of being a Norwegian and being from North Dakota.

Millie is survived by her daughter, Linda (Rodney) Kozak of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Amy, Brandon and Travis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walt; son, Mark; sister, Tilda Berge; and brothers, Enoch, Alfred, and Morris.

The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home and at St. Croix Hospice.
