Ralph F. Athmann, 85 of Elrosa, died Friday, August 23, 2013 at his home in Elrosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade. www.hafh.org

Ralph Frank Athmann was born on September 28, 1927 on the family farm in Spring Hill, the son of Christ and Alma (Breitbach) Athmann. He grew up in Spring Hill and Elrosa where he attended country grade school. On September 11, 1952, he entered the United States Army where he served his country until his honorable discharge on August 28, 1954. He returned to Elrosa where he began work in construction and with two partners owned the Melrose Lumber Company. He was self employed carpenter until his retirement in 1993.

Ralph was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Greenwald Lions, Lake Henry American Legion Post #612 and retired member of the Elrosa Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and attending local baseball games.

He is survived by his siblings, Gerald (Joyce) Athmann of South St. Paul, Reuben (Arlene) Athmann of Cold Spring, Elverna Ebensteiner of Royalton, and Jane (Ralph) Arnott of New Brighton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his siblings, Ilean Lieser, Bernard Athmann, Hubert Athmann and an infant brother and sister.
