Sawyer Ben Amundson, 20, of Foley, died Friday, June 14, after a courageous 3-year battle with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
Services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, June 17 at the First Presbyterian Church of Foley. Friends may call at the church starting at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements made by Foley Funeral Home.
Sawyer was born on April 20, 1993 and lived his entire life in rural Foley. He loved the outdoors, especially snowmobiling and hunting. Sawyer graduated from Foley High School in 2011 and shortly thereafter met the love of his life, Kayla Koenig. On May 18, 2013, they were united in marriage.
Sawyer is survived by his wife, Kayla Koenig-Amundson; father, Brent Amundson; mother, Angel Amundson (Henry Mehr); sister Mackenzie; grandparents; and many beloved, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bennie Bruns and his uncle, Todd Bruns.
Special thanks to the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital, Quiet Oaks Hospice House, so many others who helped care for Sawyer in some way, and his home health nurse, Lona.
