Walter "Wally" G. Burczyk, 87

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, St. Cloud for Walter "Wally" G. Burczyk, age 87, who passed away Monday at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Rev. Anthony Oelrich will officiate and burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church. St. Cloud East Side VFW
Post #4847 and Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254 will pray at 6:30 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.
Wally was born June 11, 1925 in Ivanhoe, MN to Martin & Katherine (Sik) Burczyk. He served his country in the U.S. Army
during WW II, serving in France, Belgium and Germany, and earning a Purple Heart
. Wally married Lavinia "Lovey" Held on Nov. 11, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids. He lived in the St. Cloud area most of his life and worked in maintenance at the St. Cloud Post Office. Wally was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254, AFL-CIO, and a lifetime member of St. Cloud East Side VFW Post #4847. He enjoyed flowers, trees, gardening, fishing and spending time at the cabin on Little Rock Lake. Wally was patriotic, had a great sense of humor, and could build anything out of wood.
Survivors include his sons and daughters, Ron Burczyk of Sauk Rapids, Peggy Arseneau of Rice, Shirley (Bob) Brannan of St. Cloud, Karen (Jim) Lamar of Sauk Rapids, Susie (Rob) Martin of Waite Park, Connie Burczyk (Kathy Maloney) of St. Cloud, Walter "Butch" (Donna) Burczyk of Rice and Martin Burczyk of New Richland; brothers and sisters, Bernard Burczyk, Raymond (Kathy) Burczyk of St. Cloud, David (Mona) Burczyk of St. Cloud, Cecilia Kelley of St. Cloud, Betty Weisen of Sartell and Mary (Ray) Gohman of Sauk Rapids; 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lovey on May 4, 2004; sons, Richard and Bernard; sons-in-law, Elmer Manthey and Keith Arseneau; daughter-in-law, Beverly Burczyk; grandchildren, Tyler and Randy Burczyk; brother, Harry Burczyk; and sisters, Emma Kelley and Lorraine Linn.
