July 19, 1950~June 1, 2011
James Daniel Blonigen, age 60 of Big Lake, passed away at Mercy Medical Center of Coon Rapids on June 1, 2011. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 5, 2011 from 3 PM to 5 PM at Riverside Church, 20314 County Road 14 NW, Big Lake. Pastor Dan May will officiate. The funeral service will follow at 5 PM. Interment will be at Big Lake Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
James was born on July 19, 1950 in Richmond, MN to Daniel and Irene (Seifert) Blonigen. Jim graduated from Monticello High School in 1968 and Anoka Tech in 1970. He worked as a home builder with his father at first, and later as Blonigen Builders with his son, Jason. He was united in marriage to Nellie Creswell in 1970, and the couple had four wonderful children Jenny, Jason, Nathan and Jeremy. Jim enjoyed woodworking, going to farm shows with his wife, giving gator rides to his grandchildren, and collecting John Deere tractors.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Blonigen; sisters Anne and Mary Blonigen; and brother-in-law Rick Borst. Jim is survived by his wife, Nellie (Creswell) Blonigen; children Jenny (Don) Fischbach of St. Cloud, Jason (Liz) Blonigen of Big Lake, Nathan Blonigen of Palm Coast, FL, and Jeremy Blonigen of Big Lake; mother, Irene Blonigen of Monticello; grandchildren Jayden Blonigen, Grace Fischbach, Brady Blonigen; 7 step grandchildren Angie, Ryan, Mike, Jeni, Andrew, Aaron and Amy; and brothers and sisters Sue (Ken) Burgess, Henry (Carolyn) Blonigen, Lucy (Dan) Koch, Betty Borst, Pat (Lori) Blonigen, Theresa (Bob) Jones and Anna (Barry) Kampa.

Nelli, my heart breaks for you. Larry and I considered Jim a Good friend,It is so sad to not hear him riding around on the gator or working in his shop. I am so sad to hear of Jim's passing. He did quite a bit of work for my place of employment as well as the most beautiful cabinets for my home. I will miss his smile, his wit and our conversations. RIP Jim.
