Gathering of family and friends will be from 5-8 PM Friday, January 11, 2013 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud for Bernadine "Bern" M. Parry formerly of Cross Lake, Minnesota, who died New Year's Day at the St. Cloud Hospital. A prayer service led by Rev. Al Stangl will be 7:00PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pinewood Cemetery, Cross Lake.
Bernadine was born in Tracy, Minnesota to the late Arthur and Merribelle (Hennessy) Burchill. She graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College (St. Cloud State University)and then taught business courses at Jordan High School and at Minneota High School in Minnesota. She married Edgar E. Parry January 28, 1943 in South Bend IN. After World WarII, the couple settled in Richmond, Minnesota and operated Parry Drug for several years. From 1965 to 1980, along with her husband Edgar, Bernadine owned and operated Bruning Pharmacy in St. Cloud, where she was the bookkeeper. Bernadine was a member of the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Cross Lake, and was a former member of the Church of St. Paul in St. Cloud. She was an avid bridge player, liked to garden, cook, entertain, be at the lake, golf, and spend time with her family. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her friends from the Lakes area.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Dr. Stephen) Schultenover of Franklin, TN; sons, David of Cross Lake; John (Marge) of St. Cloud; and Kevin (Mary Kay) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Eric Schultenover, Sara Schultenover Kubicki, Anne Parry Hershberger, Mike Parry, Bryan Parry, Shannon Parry, and Priscilla Rausch; great grandchildren, Sophia Schultenover, Natalie Schultenover, Corinne Kubicki, and Christian Kubicki.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her husband Edgar, on Feb. 17, 1984, her parents, her brother Jack Burchill, and her sisters, Phyllis Burchill, Patricia Burchill Mastronardi, and Charlotte Burchill Welch.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and well-loved by her children, grandchildren, and her friends.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of Country Manor for their wonderful care and kindness these past several years.
