Berniece M. Becker, 79

Sartell

July 25, 1933 - Nov. 29, 2012

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud for Berniece M. Becker, age 79, who passed away Thursday at Legends at Heritage Place in Sartell. Rev. Aaron Bell and Rev. David Nelson will officiate and entombment will be at Hilltop Mausoleum, Sauk Rapids. Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church in St. Cloud. Church prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Berniece was born July 25, 1933 in Popple Creek to Fred & Ida (Wittkowski) Gavanda. She married Richard Becker on May 19, 1956 at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. They lived in St. Cloud before moving to Sauk Rapids in 1963. Berniece moved to Legends at Heritage Place in 2009. She worked in the office at X-Cel Optical in Sauk Rapids for 27 years, retiring in 1988. Berniece was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Church was very important to her and she had a very strong faith. Berniece enjoyed bowling, playing cards, enjoying doughnuts, gardening, canning, and the annual summer get-away with family.

Survivors include her daughters, Sheryl (Bob) Dreis of Spring Lake Park, Susan (Kevin) Benoit of Sartell, Michelle (Doug) Merchant of St. Cloud, and Kathleen (Jerry) Mitchell of Sartell; sisters and brother, Irene Johnson of Coon Rapids, Leslie (Evelyn) Gavanda of St. Cloud, Renee Schiller of St. Cloud, and Dorothy (Bob) Libbesmeier of Kimball; seven grandchildren, Adam (April) Benoit, Nick (Ona) Benoit, Dylan Benoit, Ashley Dreis, Aaron Dreis, Rachael (Jesus) Diaz, Cameron Merchant and two great grandchildren, Knolan Diaz and Aiden Dreis. Berniece was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Richard on April 15, 1995.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Legends at Heritage Place in Sartell for the wonderful care they provided Berniece.
