Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marty/Pearl Lake for Blanche Mary Orth, 91, of Pearl Lake who died on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Lakeview Gardens in Kimball. Over the years Blanche very courageously battled cancer four times and had twelve surgeries. Rev. Mark Ostendorf and Rev. Ralph Zimmerman will con-celebrate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Blanche was born on July 11, 1921 in Waite Park, Minnesota to the late Frank and Lena (Thole) Weyrauch. She married Fred Orth on July 31, 1948 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud and lived in St. Cloud until 1971 then moved to Marty/Pearl Lake.
She worked at Uncle Henry's Bar in the 1940's and later at Donovan's Sausage house, Kay's Café and many people will remember her as the Avon lady. Blanche loved to go to the casinos and made many fun trips with her nephew, Marvin Duncan and his wife Mary. She also enjoyed playing cards, was an excellent cook and loved to entertain (helping cook at Lakeview Gardens just two weeks ago.) She was a member of Holy Cross Parish and Christian Women.
Blanche is survived by her grandchildren, Wendelin "Butch" Schefers (Cindy) of St. Cloud, Sharlyne (Schefers) Springer (Dave)of Florida; great grandchildren, Josh Schefers (fiancé Crystal), Jenny (Schefers) Andries (Brad); sister-in-law, Karen Carver; friend, Teresa Schefers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 2005; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Walbridge (George) and Carol (Schefers) Athman (Barney); brothers, Gene and Jerome; and sisters, Olga and Mabel.
The family would like to thank Lakeview Gardens Adult Foster Care, St. Cloud Hospital Hospice, her nurse, Nancy, caregivers, Pat and Cindy, and all the special people that helped Blanche during her long illness.
