Sauk Rapids

November 29, 1945 - December 10, 2012

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Sartell for Daryl P. Blais, age 67, of Sauk Rapids who died Dec. 10, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a two year courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Father Tim Baltes, Father Eberhard Schefers, Father Ben Kociemba and Father Michael Wolfbauer will officiate and burial with full military honors provided by Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254 will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Gathering Place, Sartell and one hour prior to the services Friday also at St. Francis Xavier Gathering Place, Sartell. Father Pierz Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 5-8 p.m.Thursday. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Trobec Council #5276 at St. Francis Xavier Gathering Place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

Daryl Blais was born Nov. 29, 1945 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Berthol & Virginia (Harris) Blais. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1964-1966 on the USS Dahlgren. Daryl married Geri (Czech) Blais in 1967 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Sartell. He was a pipefitter/welder for St. Cloud Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, he was self-employed as a "Mechanic on Wheels", and the current owner of Master Radiator in Waite Park. He also worked as a pipefitter/welder at the VA Medical Center until his retirement in July 2011.

Daryl was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Father Pierz Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Trobec Council #5276 where he served as past Grand Knight and District 34 Deputy, St. Cloud Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622, and the French Group. He loved cooking, cat fishing, woodworking, burning wood in his fireplace and outdoors, motorcycle riding, watching and feeding birds, and spending time with family and friends. Above all else, he will be remembered for being a loving husband, brother, uncle, brother-in- law,and loyal friend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Geri of Sauk Rapids; brothers, Gordon (Barb) Blais of Avon, and Noel (Mary Woodward) Blais of Sartell; brothers-in- law, Bob (Ardy) Czech, Tony (Patty) Czech, and Dennis Czech; sister-in-law, Kathy (Bob) Kerfeld; and many nieces and nephews. Daryl was preceded in death by his father, Berthol; mother, Virginia; father-in-law, Sam Czech; and mother-in-law, Alvina Czech.
