Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Elaine B. Schendzielos, age 78, of Sauk Rapids who passed away on Sunday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Ronald Weyrens and Rev. Albert Holmes will officiate and burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Duelm. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and also one hour prior to services at the church in Sauk Rapids on Saturday. Christian Mothers and Sauk Rapids Senior Citizens will pray the rosary at 5:00 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.
Elaine was born on May 11, 1934 in Sherburne County to Ed and Margaret (Jurek) Wakeman. She graduated from Foley high school in 1952 and on June 8, 1953 she was united in marriage to Raymond L. Schendzielos at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm. Elaine was a homemaker and a very active member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids, belonging to the Christian Mothers, RSVP and the Widowers Group. She was also a member of the Sauk Rapids Senior Citizens and many other volunteer services. Elaine enjoyed cooking, baking, especially Christmas cookies, sewing, drawing and being creative in designing floral arrangements. She was very giving, dependable and organized. Elaine's faith was very important to her.
Elaine is survived by her children, Mark of St. Cloud, Ross of St. Cloud, Maurice (Kathy) of Sartell, LaRae Erickson of Phoenix, AZ, Laina Schendzielos of Phoenix, AZ, and Leslee Midas of Sauk Rapids; brother and sisters, Allen (Geraldine) Wakeman of St. Cloud, Jeanette McIntire of Ohio and Gerri Knettle of Illinois; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and her long-time companion, Jerry Hess of St. Cloud. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond, on June 20, 2001 and infant son, Merril.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, especially Amy, Lisa and Pam, for all of the wonderful care given to Elaine.
