Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Cloud for James J. Brown, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Rev. Thomas Knoblach will officiate and interment with full military honors will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday April 2, 2013 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and also after 9:30 am Wednesday at the church. The St. Cloud VFW Post #428 will pray at 6:00 pm, St. Anthony's parish prayers will be at 6:30 pm, and the Waite Park American Legion Post #428 will follow at 7:00 pm.
James was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Raymond and Ethelreda (Weber) Brown. He married Sharon Luke July 23, 1966 in St. John Cantius Catholic Church, St. Cloud. James was employed as an EMT for Brenny/Murphy Ambulance for several years. Before retiring he was employed as a custodian for St. Cloud National Bank. His passion for old time music led him to start the Granite City Concertina Band which he was a member for 25 years. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the St. Cloud VFW Post #428, and the Waite Park American Legion Post #428.
James is survived by his wife Sharon; Children, Jim Jr., of St. Cloud, Noelle Lieser, of St. Cloud, Sharri Gadacz, of Sartell, Cassandra (Nathan) Dahler, of Milaca, and Molly (Timothy) Tellers, of St. Augusta; sisters, Anita Hinkemeyer, Sharon Honer, and Naomi(Mike) Ragatz, all of St. Cloud; 13 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, William, Gary, and Raymond; sisters, Mary Ann Justin, Shirley Stadther, and Carol Stadther.
