Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for LeRoy J. Mackedanz, age 73, of Pine River, formerly of Paynesville. LeRoy passed away December 9, 2011 at his home under the pines. Burial will take place in the St. Agnes Parish Cemetery in Roscoe with full military honors.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, December 12 and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church. St. Joseph's Men's Society will pray at 8 p.m. on Monday at the church.

LeRoy was born May 3, 1938 in Eden Lake Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Anna (Flint) Mackedanz. He lived and worked on the family dairy farm with his brother Ralph most of his life. He served in the U. S. Army Reserve for six years. LeRoy married Joyce Mithaugen on October 7, 1961 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. In 1986 he was forced into retirement due to back surgery. This allowed him to spend more time fishing, tinkering, woodcarving, playing cards, following the Twins and Vikings, going to the casino and spending time at the coffee shop with "the boys". He served on the Eden Lake Township Board and was a lifetime member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church where he was a former member of the church council. In addition, he was a member of the Paynesville American Legion Post 271 and St. Joseph's Mens Society.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 50 years Joyce, children Roxann (Dick) Knisley of Paynesville, David (Neva) of Brook Park, Dennis (Teri) of Park Rapids, Keith (Ann) of Fridley and Barb (Scott Peterson) of Floodwood, MN, 17 grandchildren Ryan, RaeAnn, Jessica, Christopher, Jessie, Messena, Tobias, Ashley, Tony, Matthew, Megan, Amanda, Andy, Ben, Brady, Taylor and Alex, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother.

Preceding him in death were his parents Ben and Anna, granddaughter Rachel Knisley and two brothers and one sister.
