On February 7th, she began a new journey where she will reunite with her husband Cleo.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waite Park. Reverend Mark Innocenti will officiate. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be 4:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Lorraine was born on Feb 19, 1925 to the late Veronica & Fred Kleinschmidt. She was united in marriage to Cleo Hengel Nov 26, 1946.
Lorraine was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved playing cards and bingo, and she enjoyed cooking. She also loved spending time with family and friends and sharing her gift of hospitality. She retired in 1993 with 23 years, as a secretary, from the St. Cloud School District.
Her work didn't end when she retired. She became an active volunteer at the St. Cloud Hospital Coffee Shop, RSVP, St. Joseph's Parish office, and enjoyed visiting residents at apartments and nursing homes as a member of the Friends of St. Joseph's.
Lorraine belonged to many groups and organizations; VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Moose Auxiliary, Jr. Supervisor of the American Legion Jr. Auxiliary, Waite Park Senior Citizens and two Red Hat groups. She actively participated in the St. Ann's Christian Women, Legion of Mary, Daughters of Isabella, Bertha, Madonna, St. Joseph's and St. Clare's Mission groups. Lorraine was very active in her church and was the originator of the Parish Funeral Luncheons, Parish Monthly Breakfasts, Monthly Card Parties, and the Parish Welcoming Committee.
Lorraine is survived by her son Ernie Hengel and wife Debbie of Sartell. Daughters; Sharon Emslander and her husband Ed of Sartell, and Renee Kneeland and her husband Earl of Cushing. Lorraine was blessed with 8 grandchildren; Eric Emslander, Cindy Walberg, Tina Hieserich, Amanda Rennie, Janet Anderson, Jeremiah Kneeland, Steven Hengel, and David Hengel. She was doubly blessed with 22 great grandchildren that always brought a smile to her face. Lorraine leaves behind one sister Ione Jackson living in Williamson, GA.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Cleo, parents Fred and Veronica Kleinschmidt, and great grandchild Carina.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
