Mark Wayne Johnson, 53, of Longville, Minnesota passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mark was born July 20, 1958 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to William and Dolly (Bjelland) Johnson, Jr. Following his graduation from Northland High School in Remer he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his four years of service he was honorably discharged in July of 1980 and returned to Longville where he worked for his family's construction business. On October 9, 1981 he married Carol Luckeroth in St. Cloud, and they continued living in Longville where they raised their two children, Christine and Nicholas. In 1987 they purchased, and began operating Longville Septic Service, and subsequently started MCN Excavating which they operated until his health did not permit him to continue. Mark was a very talented and intelligent man. He was a self taught computer programmer, and designed several sewer system programs, one of which was used by Cass County. He enjoyed hunting, could fix anything, and used his carpentry skills in building their home. Mark was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and was actively involved in his son's Motocross Racing. He gave to others unselfishly, and lived life with a good natured attitude. Most of all he will be remembered as a great husband, dad, and grandfather.
Mark is survived by his wife Carol, children; Christine (Billy) Nihart, Nicholas Johnson, grandchildren; Ryley and Carsyn Nihart, mother, Dolly Johnson, sister, Barb Johnson, mother-in-law Betty Luckeroth, sister-in-law Nancy (Ray) Halupczok, nieces Angie Surber, Katie (Ryan) Neuman, nephew Scott (Tessa) Halupczok, great nieces and nephews; Kylee Neuman, Emma Halupczok, Tucker Mosberger and Tanner Neuman.
