Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Nicholas A. "Nick" Fischbach, age 79, of Paynesville. Nick passed away November 24 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Burial will take place in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery with full military honors.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday all at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville.
Nick was born December 6, 1932 in Lake Henry, MN to John and Christine (Hemmesch) Fischbach. He married Evelyn "Evie" Hoppe on December 26, 1975 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. He was co-owner of the Coast to Coast Stores in Paynesville and Belgrade for 12 years. He also worked 21 years for Paynesville Health Care System and 10 years for Ted's R. V. in Paynesville. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church where he served as an usher, St. Louis Knights of Columbus Council 3820, Paynesville American Legion Post 271, Lake Henry Foresters and a retiree of the Paynesville Volunteer Fire Department.
Nick was a spectator of and participated in many activities. His favorites included bowling, golf, football and baseball. He enjoyed deer, duck and grouse hunting, camping and traveling, especially to Texas.
Nick is survived by his wife of 36 years Evie, children Beverly (Paul) Aas of Paynesville, Debbie (Dennis) Welle of Chaska, Cheryl Fischbach of Shoreview, Bonnie (Dean) Schmidt of Paynesville, Lisa (Rick) Hegg of Grove City and Daryl (Denise) Fischbach of Eden Valley, 12 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brother Vernon (Jean) Fischbach of Richfield and sisters Aurelia Fuchs of Paynesville, Doris Hess of Paynesville and Arlene Raeker of Crystal.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Jerome, Ralph, Harold and Clarence Fischbach.
Nick's family would like to thank the staff at the Koronis Manor for the care he received for the last couple of years.
