Memorial services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Paynesville for Ruth E. Blake, age 90, of Paynesville, who passed away July 20, 2012 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Entombment will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Arrangements are with the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville.

Ruth was born June 15, 1922 in Breckenridge, MN to Edward and Sadie (Calton) Barnes. After attending most of her schooling in Detroit Lakes she graduated from Frazee High School in 1941. She married G.F. "Bud" Blake on February 8, 1946. They lived in many communities and while in Hutchinson she worked at O.K. Hardware. They became residents of Paynesville in 1999. They were active in the Foster Parent Program and were 4-H leaders. Ruth was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Paynesville. Over the years she has attended many Bible Studies and taught Sunday School classes. She also belonged to the Red Hats and Parents of Murdered Children. She was chosen Koronis Manor Queen in 2008 and was an active volunteer while at the manor.

Ruth enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, baking, playing cards, bingo, watching the Twins and Wheel of Fortune, and keeping in touch with letter writing to friends and family. She was proud of her large collection of cats and salt and pepper shakers. Ruth and Bud also shared a great interest in flea markets and garage sales.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Judy (LeRoy) Sandgren of New London, grandson Jason (Tiffani) Dover and great grandsons Creeden Dover and Mack Mundy of Rochester, foster daughter Joyce (Mike) Bauer of Reno, NV, as well as step grandchildren Pat (Sherri) Eisenbraun and their children Becky, Travis and Courtney, Cindy (Rick) Thorp and their children Krissy, Ricky (Carrie), Kevin (Danielle) and their daughter Lyric, Mike (Kari) Sandgren and their sons Luke, Tyler and Dylan, Tim (Angela) Sandgren and their children Megan, Nathan and Zachary. She is also survived by her sisters Dorothy Willprecht of Frazee and Esther Smith of Ripon, WI and sister-in-law Mary Kroda of McFarland, WI, cousin Harold Snow of Custer, SD as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bud (2005), granddaughter Jody Dover, step granddaughter Julie Eisenbraun, siblings Roy Barnes, Ray Barnes, Joe Kroda and Rosie Kroda.
