Virgil was born to Vernon and Estella (Burns) VanLue on August 14, 1916 in Akron, IN. He married Marcella (Sally) M Rushart on April 27, 1940 in Anderson, IN. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He worked at a lumber company in Anderson, IN until moving with his family to Kokomo, IN in 1949 where he later started the VanLue Lumber Company. He was active in the First Congregational Christian Church, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and American Legion.
Virgil was always able to tell a good story and was known to sing for people on occasion. They loved to entertain at their home in Kokomo, IN and did so frequently for their friends and also friends of their children. Friends and family all have memories of summer days spent on their large screened in porch. Virgil was a favorite uncle of many nieces and nephews and was generous when someone was in need. As their health declined, he and his wife Sally moved to the Country Manor in Sartell, MN in 1996 so that they could be close to their son Rick. Virgil was very easy going and the only consistent request he had was for chocolate. He became "family" to people that attended to him on a daily basis.
Survivors include sons, Kenton (Judy) of Alexandria, VA, Rick (Pat) of Stillwater, MN and Gregg (Molly) of Sarasota, FL, eight grandchildren and12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sally, infant daughter, Cindy Sue, infant son, Kirk and brother, Ricky of IN, sister, Nellie Scott of FL, sister, Helen Ward of IN and great-granddaughter, Haley Madsen of MN.
