Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Linus Dingmann, age 82, who died Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. in the St. Boniface Church Narthex.
Linus was born in Jacobs Prairie, MN to Herman and Theresa (Holthaus) Dingmann. He married Janette Schreifels on October 19, 1954 in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Cold Spring, MN. Linus served in the Army during the Korean War. The Lions was his life; he enjoyed Community Service with the Cold Spring Lions and also was a Pack Leader in the Boy Scouts. He and Janette were honored with the 2011 Hometown Pride Award in appreciation for their dedicated service to the Cold Spring Community. Linus worked for the Cold Spring Granite Company in Research and Development for 43 years. He was a member of the Cold Spring Lions, St. Boniface Parish, Cold Spring American Legion, and Catholic United Financial.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janette; children, Michael, Thomas (Raissa), Susan, John (Lynda), Lisa (Craig) Hirman, James (Brenda), Michelle (Craig) Johnson; siblings, Clarence (Joanne), Laura (Pete) Hengel; sister-in-law, Juletta Dingmann; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Marcus, Tillie Guggenberger, Ralph, Wally, Evelyn.
