Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Aloys W. "Al" Kruchten, age 91, of St. Cloud who passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Entombment will take place in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Al was born on November 7, 1922 in Cold Spring, Minnesota to the late George and Cecilia (Hansen) Kruchten. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Army. He married Rita M. Kiel on June 6, 1949 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. Al lived all of his married life in St. Cloud and was employed at the Eagles Club Aerie #622 for 60 years. Al belonged to Holy Spirit Parish, the St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428, the St. Cloud American Legion Post #76 and the St. Cloud Eagles Club Aerie #622 and was a former member of the Moose Lodge #1400.

Al enjoyed lawn care, gardening, snow removal and after retirement he started his own lawn and yard maintenance service "Cozy Lawn Service". He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and was a good fix it man.

He is survived by his wife, Rita of St. Cloud; children, Wayne (Meriam) of Clearwater; Dori (David) Ferdon of Rochester, Connie (David) Baller of North Liberty, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Phillip, Zaldie and Hamilton Kruchten, Joseph and William Ferdon, Alex, Kasey and Kelsey Baller; three great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Donald (Veronica) of St. Michael, Walter (Jackie) of Huntington Beach, California, Rita (Emil) LaBuda of St. Cloud, Rosie Rarick of Waite Park, Imelda (Dick) Galama of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joseph (Betty) of Waite Park, Lucy Cords (Alvin Garret ) of Waite Park, Alban ( Jennie ) of Whittier, California.

He was preceded in death by brother, Leo Kruchten; two infant brothers; and two infant sisters.

Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.

A special thank you is extended to the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Quiet Oaks Hospice House for care given to Al.
