Michael Prokott, 74 year old resident of Royalton, MN, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Stanislaus Kostka in Bowlus, MN with Father John Odero officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Royalton, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Friday at the Church. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening. Arrangements are with Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls 320.632.5242.
Michael was born on September 10, 1939 in Little Falls, MN to the late Michael and Angeline (Witucki) Prokott. He grew up in Bowlus, MN and attended school in Little Falls, MN until 11th grade and graduated from Royalton High School. Michael was united in marriage to Pieta VanKessel on October 19, 1963 in Chesterville, Ontario, Canada. They lived in the Twin Cities for several years and Michael worked at a grain elevator. They relocated to Bowlus, MN and Michael worked various jobs until 1976 when he began farming full-time. Michael loved fishing, especially ice fishing. He also enjoyed deer hunting and working around his property with his Bobcat. Michael will always be remembered for his large hands and his even bigger heart. He was a special guy and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Michael is survived and loved by wife of 50 years Pieta Prokott; son, Dan (Judy) Prokott of Sobieski, MN; daughters, Sharon Waytashek of Royalton, MN, Rhonda (Mike) Bursch of Royalton, MN and Julie (Terry) Popp of Rice, MN; grandchildren, Beth Hiemenz, Jon Prokott, Josh Prokott, Britney Waytashek, Brett Bursch, Brooke Bursch, Blake Bursch, Paige Bursch, Greta Popp, Ingrid Popp, and Samuel Popp; great-grandchildren, Broderick Hiemenz and Brody Waytashek; brothers, Sylvester Prokott, Ignatius Prokott, and Frank Prokott; sister, Theresa LaValle.
Michael was preceded in death by parents; grandson, Cody Waytashek; brothers, John & Mark; and sisters, Rosaline, Agnes, & Veronica.
Memorials are preferred to Father John Odero's Home-town, Homa Bay, Kenya.
