Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Assumption Catholic Church, Eden Valley for Esther M. Loch, age 87, who passed away Tuesday at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Rev. Eberhard Schefers will officiate and burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Eden Valley. Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday (TODAY) and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Eden Valley. Eden Valley American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary and Wat-Kim-Valley VFW Post #5460 Auxiliary will pray at 7:00 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Esther was born April 4, 1925 in Downsville, WI to Charles & Ethel (Fowler) Kortz. She married Clemence Loch on Nov. 27, 1947 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Eden Valley. Esther was a homemaker and also worked at Fingerhut and Animal Fair. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and St. Joseph & St. Mary's Catholic Aid Council. Esther was also a member of Eden Valley American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary and Wat-Kim-Valley VFW Post #5460 Auxiliary. She enjoyed the Vikings, baseball, basketball (she was the #1 fan for EVW basketball), and she loved her cats. Esther also enjoyed gardening, quilting, Meeker County Fair, Eden Valley Days, volunteering at the food shelf, and the coffee group at Ugly Tom's.
Survivors include her daughters and sons, Christine (Jerald) Jeppesen of Kimball, Barbara (Larry Sr.) McMains of Litchfield, Stephen (Julie) Loch of Dassel, Evelyn (Douglas) Schlief of Glenwood, Alice (DuWayne Sr.) Douvier of Glenwood, Merlin (Kyoung Ae) Loch of San Diego, CA, Joyce (Kenneth) Lamers of North Pole, AK, Patricia (Daniel) Douvier of Glenwood, Mark (Laura) Loch of Dassel, Charles (Teresa) Loch of Belton, MO, Cecilia Loch of Superior, WI, and Debra (Shane) Mayer of Pacific, MO; 26 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and her cats, Tabby and Paul.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clemence; daughter, Mary; and siblings, Lester Kortz, Gladys Hoffman, Charles Kortz, Jr., Marie Rodey, Raymond Kortz, Herbert Kortz, and Herman Kortz.
