Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Graham United Methodist Church, 2255 135th St. NE, Rice for LaVern E. Scheel, age 92, who passed away Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Suzanne Maki will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

LaVern was born Sept. 19, 1920 in Rice to John & Lillian (Foss) Scheel. He married Lois Schumann on April 27, 1944 at Graham United Methodist Church. LaVern lived in the Rice area his entire life and spent the last five years at Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell. He was a farmer and sold seed corn for Pioneer for 49 years. LaVern also was a school bus driver for Larson Bus Co. for 28 years. He was a lifelong member of Graham United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board and the Budget Committee.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandy Wright (Walter Rigwald) of Roberts, WI; daughter-in-law Pamela Scheel of Rice; son, John (Bonnie) Scheel of Foley; sisters and brother, Arlys Larson of Sauk Rapids, Gladys Anderson of Montevideo, and Alvin (Donna) Scheel of Rice; nine grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Engen of Shakopee, Anthony (Karla) Scheel of Rice, Laurie Wright of San Francisco, CA, Aaron (Melissa) Scheel of Becker, Jeff (Marlene) Wright of St. Paul, Christopher ( Kristina) Scheel of Rice, Amanda (Jason) Hespen of Coon Rapids, Cassandra (Cory) Beierman of Rice, and Carrie (Fiancé Kyle Bauman) Scheel of Foreston; 14 great grandchildren. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; sons, Wayne and Ronald; son-in-law, Theodore Wright; and granddaughter, Wendy Wright.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Cloud Medical Group, St. Cloud Hospital and Country Manor for the wonderful care they provided LaVern.
