Elaine was born on October 20, 1923 in St. Cloud to Walter and Anna (Roering) Nied. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1942 and then worked at Woolworth's Dime Store as a Clerk at the candy counter, which she enjoyed very much. She also was a clerk in the greeting card department. Later for a short time, she worked as a clerk at Jupiter Department Store and Stearns Manufacturing all of which were in St. Cloud. As a young lady Elaine enjoyed bike riding, roller-skating at the Ballerina, dancing at the St. Cloud Coliseum where she met Dave and every Saturday going downtown to hang out and shop. Elaine married David G. Klein on February 3, 1951 at St. Paul's Cathedral in St. Paul and their first child was born there. They returned to St. Cloud and raised their five children. Elaine was a dedicated mother who would do anything for her children. Even if it meant she would do without. She made everyone feel welcome in her home. Elaine was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Chrisitan Women.
Elaine and Dave enjoyed traveling and went on many trips together. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and treasured spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, David; her children: Michael D. (Linda) Klein of Texas, Becky (John) Storkamp, Michelle (Cliff) Rosencranz, Susan (Don) Thielen, Lisa (Mark) Levendowski, all from this area. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and her sisters, Lucille (Vern) Feichtinger and Lois (Dale) Roeder both of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Don Nied.
