Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Viola Brinkman, age 84, who died Friday at Assumption Home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with Sts. Peter & Paul Christian Women, Catholic Society of Foresters, Catholic United Financial and St. Michael's Mission Group. Visitation will continue from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
Viola was born in Richmond, MN to Bernard and Mary (Zumwalde) Schouviller. She married Bernard John Brinkman on August 8, 1949 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Richmond, MN. Viola was co-owner of Brinky's in Richmond. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish where she was a communion minister, member of the adult choir, and volunteer librarian for the school. Viola enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, gardening, quilting, dancing, traveling, and volunteering. She was a great cook and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Viola was a member of Christian Women, Catholic Society of Foresters, Catholic United Financial, and St. Michael's Mission Group.
Survivors include her children, Gail of Richfield, MN, Wayne (Jan) of St. Cloud, Gary (Cindy) of Richmond, Allen (Carol) of St. Cloud, and Dave (Christine Carlson) of Bellevue, WA; sisters, Ruth Backlund, Eleanor Jordahl, and Lillian Sichak; sister-in-law, LaVerne Schouviller; grandchildren, Dan (Ellen), Beth (Justin) Fletcher, Jenny Brinkman-Zika (Scott Zika), Christopher (Sarah), Katie (Matt Kilian), Michael, Emily, Teal, Tanna, and Kira; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Madeline, Claire, Lauren, Alexa, and Elle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard "BJ" (2006); siblings, Roy, Ray, Bernard, Anna Marie, and Teresa; in-laws, John Sichak, Wes Backlund, Jim Jordahl, Bernice Schouviller, Dorothy Schouviller, and nephew, Tom Sichak.
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Assumption Home staff and St. Cloud Hospice for their loving care of our mother.
